Maybe a problem with the impeller leading to overheating and safe mode? Possible, but no engine warning light? Hmmm.

I ran the engine on the muffs and noticed that the telltale was not constant but had air in it at times. Either fuel or something causing it to go into safe-mode or limp-home mode, intermittently. I has not happy with it.Įventually, I decided that it was time to investigate the problem. It was left in the weather to suffer and to think about how it had let me down - and let my family down. I did not even wash it or put it in the shed. Towed the boat home and left it for three days during the sweltering heat and afternoon thunderstorms. Well, I decided to cancel the day out in the boat as I did not relish being towed back in. To me it felt like the engine was going into safe mode but there were no warning lights on the dash, so maybe fuel issues? Back down the river and it happened again as we were entering open water. This time I stopped and lifted the engine to check in case something was obstructing the prop. We motored down the river to show the kids the Tobruk before she gets sunk and lost power again. A little bit concerned but ok, lets keep going. A few seconds later, it came good and away we went. Not long after leaving the boat ramp, the engine suddenly lost revs and bogged down. The 'kids' came up for a few days after Christmas and we took them out on the water - well, we tried to.
